Over the course of three days, partipants will learn and practice the basics of the fascinating process of paper and fabric marbling. We will begin by exploring the materials and techniques needed to marble on paper, studying famous historical patterns, and practicing on 12-15 sheets of primed paper. As the class progresses, we will focus on marbling fabric, introducing more complex patterns and discussing the application of Color Theory in marbling, creating up to 12 sheets of two types of cotton fabric. On the final day, we will refine their skills, selecting a color scheme and pattern to apply to silk scarves. Each participant will create two silk scarves, putting their learned techniques into practice.
